Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

Usage statistics: page views and in-app events (for example, starting a scenario, saving, sharing), the page (only known site paths), the interface language, the referring website's domain, a coarse device type and browser family, and the country derived from your request. A random identifier stored in your browser is combined with a daily-rotating salted hash of your IP address and browser to estimate unique visitors per day; neither the identifier nor your IP address is stored, and your IP address is processed only briefly in memory for rate limiting and the anonymous "online now" counter.

Experiment reports: when a simulation runs long enough, aggregated results (scenario, number of ticks, population and generation counts, extinctions and a few world settings) are sent so that scenario recommendations can improve over time. They contain no personal data.

Optional AI explanations: if you press "Explain", aggregated statistics of your simulation and recent major event-log lines are sent to our server and forwarded to OpenAI to generate a summary. No personal information is included.

Cloudflare Web Analytics: we use Cloudflare's cookieless Web Analytics to measure page loads and performance. Cloudflare processes your IP address and user agent to produce aggregate statistics.

2. Information stored only on your device

Saved ecosystems, your language choice, missions, daily-challenge progress and tutorial progress are stored in your browser (IndexedDB and localStorage). Saves are never uploaded; the interface language is included in usage statistics. Exported JSON files stay wherever you save them.

3. How we use information

To operate and secure the Service, to understand which features and languages are used, to improve scenarios and performance, and to prevent abuse (rate limiting). We do not sell data, show advertising based on it, or build personal profiles.

4. Processors and international transfer

The Service is hosted by Cloudflare (website delivery and cookieless Web Analytics) and Railway (API and database). Optional AI explanations are processed by OpenAI. These providers may process data in other countries, including the United States, under their own security and data protection commitments.

5. Retention

Usage statistics and experiment reports are kept for up to 13 months and then deleted. For each AI explanation request we log only its time, language and scenario (no content), also kept for up to 13 months.

6. Your choices and rights

If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, none of our own statistics, experiment reports or presence pings are sent; Cloudflare's cookieless aggregate analytics may still measure page loads. You can clear site data in your browser at any time to delete local saves and the identifier. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to processing; contact us and we will respond within 30 days.

7. Children

The Service does not require personal information and is suitable for educational use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
